As other countries from the East look to the US, many advising companies use that as an advantage to spread a trend. Since what is mostly shown in advertisements, movies, etc., includes a thin, high nose caucasian woman, many from the East tend to practice that look amongst themselves. Especially in the Asian speaking countries, changing the face and body size to look more "western" has gotten extremely popular among women even to extremes. In places such as Korea and China, having surgery is normal even at a young age (12+). Most Americans would think this is strange based on the fact that what others may focus on when it comes to beauty may be completely different to them. Traditions and rituals for beauty is becoming a thing of the past, however, you may still find a few who still do love the traditional ideas of a woman's beauty.
